Pompeii

Since the dawn of August 24 of that year 79, Mount Vesuvius appeared a large cloud in the shape of pine. At ten o'clock in the morning the gas pressed detonated inside the solidified lava that blocked the volcano's crater, reducing it into countless fragments, lapilli, which were thrown out of Pompeii, along with a rain of ash so thick as to obscure the sun. Among the terrible earthquakes and fumes of poison gas the city ceased to exist, remaining buried for centuries under a blanket of over six meters of ash and lapilli. About two thousand victims, some poisoned by the gas during the escape, the other crushed in their own homes from the roofs collapsed under the weight of lapilli. Today Pompeii appears in almost all its extension and brings us back to the day when the fate stopped the course of its history, life seems to have stopped a while ago. The electoral inscriptions on the walls, the furnishings, the shops, everything seems still alive: the tragedy of Pompeii did not destroy the city, there has only stopped the time to return to the appearance it had at that day in 79 AD.
